7 Day Vic Falls and Chobe Photo Safari
This comprehensive one week package includes two nights at Ilala Lodge close to The Falls and the best of both sides of the Chobe river in Botswana and Namibia. It’s a perfect either on its own or perhaps combined with a week in Cape Town for the ultimate beach and bush combination.
Day 1- 3
One of the seven natural wonders of the world, Victoria Falls is a breathtaking sight throughout the year especially from the Zimbabwean side. Known to locals as Mosi-Oa-Tunya, “The Smoke that Thunders”, as the water cascades over the edge of the falls it forms huge clouds of spray which can be seen from miles away.
Staying at Ilala lodge you are within walking distance of the falls and all the other attractions that the town of Victoria Falls has to offer. From bungee jumping to white water rafting and then high tea at the Vic Falls Hotel, there is something for everyone here.
Day 3 – 5
The transfer from Vic falls to The Chobe is a very easy one by road, taking around 2 hours in one of our air conditioned vehicles. You will be taken to the amazing Mowana Lodge which will be your home for the next two nights.
Positioned right on the river, Mowana is a fabulous 4* lodge with luxuriant gardens and a world class spa. Mowana is also the base from which we launch our photo boats, making it very convenient for you each morning and afternoon. Each morning and afternoon you will be taken into the Chobe National Park by our expert photo guides on either the photo boat or in the Unimog. Should you require, we will happily lend you one of our state of the art cameras and lenses to use and the guides will be on hand to show you how to make the most of each photo opportunity that this magical place provides.
After brunch on day 5 you will be collected from the Mowana jetty and transferred across the river to The Pangolin Voyager houseboat which is moored on the Namibian side of the river. The Voyager travels up and down the Chobe utilising three different mooring points and exploring the further reaches of the river from Kasane to Serondela.
This five bedroomed houseboat is wonderfully luxurious and you will have access to photo boats and other tenders to do as much photography and game viewing as you like, and perhaps even some tiger fishing. Meals are taken on the middle deck as we cruise down the river and there is an upper deck with plenty of loungers should you wish to spend some time topping up on that tan with a good book. After brunch on the last day you have the choice of either being transferred back to Victoria Falls or perhaps flying directly from Kasane airport (on the Botswana side) to your next destination.
