Day trips in the Chobe

One of Chobe National Park’s main draw cards is its proximity to the mighty Victoria Falls—about an hour or so’s drive away via the Kazangula border post.

This makes the park a popular favourite for visitors on a tight timeframe, or those staying exclusively in and around Victoria Falls, to get their quick serious game-viewing fix before they jump on the plane home again. It also makes the park a convenient safari stop-off point for overland trucks either on their way to or from the falls.

A number of operators on both the Zambian and Zimbabwean side of the falls offer day trips to Chobe that include all transfers, a game drive, a boat trip, drinks and some food and will have you back in the Vic Falls area before sunset.

Equally, the falls is an easy and essential day trip for those visiting Chobe and Botswana who aren’t scheduled to stay in either Zimbabwe or Zambia. Both sides of the falls can comfortably be visited in one day, and you might even have time to fit in an adrenaline activity or two as well. Transport can be arranged by most lodges and operators in Chobe or the nearby town of Kasane.

If you are self-driving and you are really ambitious, you could even try to see 4 of the Big 5 and the falls in one day!
